Kurt,

This picture more or less shows what I did:

Hope it helps.

edit: sorry for the typos in the picture, in the bottom half it should have said:

´dark shapE
covering the dark parts in the scene
shapE is transparent´

Now I see what the spot light technique was for.

This is really a good example of what Anime Studio gives to people in terms of the power to create! Nice going.

Again an update (after finishing the 2nd "chapter" I started the 3rd "chapter", the new scenes, both part of this 3rd "chapter", are the last seconds of the video):

Brilliant work!

I love this "style".

I will try to say what I feel but it might not come out right so don't get the wrong idea.

Many people hold themselves back because they believe they don't have talent, or that they can't do something that is "good enough".

For years people have always said how "talented" I am, but I have a hard time getting stuff done because I am a perfectionist to the max. My failing is if I can't do it "perfectly" why bother. Perfectionism is a curse.

Then I see what you have done, or others like you and I realize how this holds me back.

I wish I could have even a fraction of your talent... to mix with my own. Your talent to tell a story without "worrying" about it being "perfect" (perfection doesn't exist anyway... my search for it is like trying to find the gold at the end of the rainbow.)

;)

I hope this makes sense. It is hard to describe what I mean with out it sounding "wrong" or giving the wrong impression.

I don't want you to think there is anything at all "wrong" with your animations. They are beautiful and charming and are an absolute pleasure to watch. Great job and keep it up!!

p.s. "The definition of frustration is a perfectionist who can't do anything right."

Hi Vern,

I think that I understand what you mean. Indeed it is not my goal to deliver THE perfect animation.

I want to have a great time creating this animation. For me creating animations is a hobby.
I am looking for a balance between the (free) time I can spend on this project, the progress I can make in this time and the quality of the work I produce.

My greatest "fans" are my two sons who like whatching what dad is producing. The story I tell is for them. I took a childrens book of my oldest son and the story behind the animation is based on this book.

Frank
