Vector animation for life

Post by kasjorg »

Hi all.

I´ve been using Moho for a while now and I found that the real strength of it is not to overdo the use of bones. In this run I only used bones for the body and head (really only to hold the charater together) Animating vectors gives so much more life and you can use those old classical animation technices from our great Preston Blair books :D

Well let me know what you think of my little test.

Absolutely marvellous –
I presume “Preston Blair” would be delighted.

That's great!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Looks really good. According to your post, you didn't use bones on the legs. How did you animate the legs? Are they 16 separate drawings?

Hey thanks all,

Gochris the legs are just shapes on a vector layer that is being moved in front and behind the body. the perspective is done by the shape lying behind the shorts and only appering when the leg is going forwards and the shape under the feet as well. That is done by moving the points in the shorts and the feet so the darker shapes appear. But yeah when finished I almost end up with a keyframe on each frame but the shapes and the vector points are the same. I think bones would only make things harder when doing stuff like that.

Nice Animation! The way you "broke" the wrists/joints in his run is a great technique that really adds to your animation.
