Animated Dragon

Post by jezjones29 »

I'm new to animation and Moho so be gentle:

There are currently three versions here, I have more, like a talking one, but they are not 100% ready yet.

These are just demos and only for personal use I don't plan on doing anything else with them.

Be gentle? These are freaking amazing, I must ask a couple of questions!

1. In the 3D & Waving dragon, the dragon turns his head towards and away from the camera... How did you make the dragon's left eye gradually appear and disappear?

2. Are "bones" used at all in these animations? Or is it all just point animation?

Nice work!

Hi gavi, and thanx. In reply to your questions 1. I simply edited each point and slowly moved them into shot. Everything was split up into layers so that I could edit them quickly.
2. Yes, bones are used. I fixed the bones to the points.

jez,

Any chance of posting a picture of your bone structure? (Erm that would be your dragon's bone structure, not yours, I'm not really that interested in your own personal bone structure, no offence.)
Or even... a *.moho file?

Thanx p6r, tahititoon I'll post more soon.
Gavi, here is a screen shot of the setup, each part of the dragon is split up into layers, and each layer has a bone layer.

hey your dragon is beautiful! I love it!

I have one very small suggestion - at the end of the mouth where there is a bulge- im assuming that is the cheek. If so, I don't understand the bulge underneath the eye of the dragon... It doesn't make sense to me, since if the cheek was pushing up it would be up at the eye.

Thanx guys, rpc9943 thank you for your comments, I guess that part just helps with the look of his eye. Without it, his eye doesn't seem right, it's a bit like an upside down eyebrow. I guess it could go, in the next version though.

I've added two more to the list on my page. The final one show's him getting down from his rock and walking away. There is also some lip movement. - no sound yet. (sorry for the large file size)

Once again shpadoinkle stuff.
I noticed in the talking dragon one, there seems to be like one frame where a strange long white rectangley liney thing appears near his mouth, not sure if you realised this..?

It seems to be a bug with moho, it's not the first time. It looks like when moho renders, it sometimes draws the top of the rendering message box in the animation :? I don't know if anyone else has had this problem. I guess I need to report it.

Agreed- howeveryou could make it less of a curve and more of a line.

That technique is used on anime style art, and i think a line or a less curved arc would look great
