closing hand - 2 FBF experiments

Post by exile »

Using Chucky Kenway's FBF template.

The first gif is based on four images, for the second I used 13 frames from a movie as reference and strove for a hand-drawn look. The first, simpler one is probably more effective.

In the "How Do I" forum Wes helped me with the problems I had with accidental duplicates of frames.

I agree, the first one is better.

Looks good Exile.
You might get even better results with the taper settings off. 8)

You're right, I had them on for the 4-frame attempt, or rather, Moho had them on as default, as you pointed out in your tutorial.

I have one question: in the tutorial, you copy the clean layer and put it over the fill layer. Does that replace the fill layer? What is the purpose of the copied clean layer?

Oh, I copied that layer, so that I could use the bucket fill to fill in those shapes quickly... if you work it out , it actually does some gap closing, not as effectively as clip studio or TB but to some degree, you will see in that video that I sometimes use the blob brush to' help' fil; those gaps , or just use the bob to colour.

I sometimes kill all the shapes and leave the vectors when doing that but I didn't that time.
What would be really good would be if the bucket could use another layer as a fill 'guide' , like Clip Studio ( and toon Boom 'sort of') does.
Also then you could maybe even use that guide layer to guide the blob brush not to go outside the line- also like clip studio.

Keep in mind that the blob is only for rough filling, it needs a lot of improvement to be taken seriously, but it can get you over the line in the right circumstances...namely keeping it lose.
