Brexit

Post by kitzeldikatz »

Hi,

I would like to have some feedback on my video.

What do you like about it?
What not?
What would you improve (e.g. blocking)?

Um -- not sure what the message was?
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

I assume it's parodying the rhetoric on both sides. If so, it probably needs something to let the audience in on the joke.

@jahnocli, @synthsin75, thank you for your comments. They are quite helpful because it's hard to get feedback from people who don't know what to make out of it. So I understand where the problem is.

My train of thought was the following:
I found the slogans of the campaign quite ridiculous:
You pay 350m per week for the EU Membership? OK. But you get something in return. Life also costs money unless you live off grid in the forest.
You have to abide to EU rules? Like everywhere in life, there are rules and some of them are stupid or unfair - even if you live in the forest.
So why not take these arguments one step further and end life on earth?

The mindset of viewers are quite diverse. So I think I underestimated that.

Here's my 2 ct:

Overall it's much too slow, and some shots are completely unnecessary.

Information is only delivered through text, not visually or with motion.

The "gag" at the end is pretty lame. This is not argumentation, this is just an attempt to be funny, and not a good one.

I know the topic is highly complex, but it deserves a bette treatment. Whom do you want to reach with this film, and in which direction do you want to change their opinion?

Thanks, Slowtiger

The idea was to create a bleak monotonous atmosphere. But you're right, some footage doesn't give any additional information.
Whom do you want to reach with this film, and in which direction do you want to change their opinion?
Changing the opinion of someone? Sorry, no, I'm too old for that
This was more a case of "I need to get this idea out of my head."
This was my first animation film where I didn't get stuck in a rigging rabbit hole or sidetracked, so I wanted to keep it compact.
While making it I lost all my judgement. So I decided to finish it and let others decide whether they like it.

But it seems the whole idea wasn't so good in the first place.
Back to the drawing board then.

I can assure you this is normal. I have lots of ideas, but most of them don't survive the next day. Of the ones I start still at least half of them will die in the process for whatever reason. It doesn't matter. Even with the finished films, even if they're shown at festivals, I have issues, stuff I spotted only after everything was done, scenes I should've done better, and so on.

I liked the poll text "choosing the apolcalypse" and hence the satirical look on the debate that went way beyond any reasonable.
I also liked the dark atmosphere, the fatalistic ambient.
I also liked the nice effect of the falling dwn into hell.

I agree to what was said by others, that it was a bit too slow. Anyway, keep up. And hanks for sharing!
