Bikini beach Blonde character

Post by ruscular3d »

My fully functional character. I'll try open a account with content paradise with this one. I have about 12 hands with this. Now I need to make a free give away with the character.

I set to make this style a bit more realistic, but very functional.

She is short and its base off of a real photo of a lady I know personally and she was a former gymnast.
The hands however I drew from my mind and it may be off but the wrist falls in the right place.
Anatomically speaking she did get some plastic surgery, and those proportion are way off....ahem!

I shorten the arms a bit....that might help?

She looks bodacious, ruscular3d. I'd order this just to see how you rigged and textured her. :)

Sometimes the arms and legs look off in the setup frame, even when the proportions are technically correct. This is often due to lack of perspective and the unnatural (but necessary) base pose. When I animate (ie., on a non-zero frame), I'll just scale the upper or forearms until it looks right.

I can tell you what I think is wrong with it. Plain and simple it's crap. Sexist crap. And if Contents Paradise allow this inflated fembot rig in their store then its losing a customer in me. It's not even sexy, which is ruscular3d's biggest failing. Back to the drawing board I think.

<rant @acid breakdown>

I agree this isn't to everyone's taste but with all due respect, why stop at boycotting content paradise? (have you seen some available poser models!?) perhaps you should just stop using the internet all together - there's all sorts of sexist material on it... somewhere...I'm told.

If you think about it, the fact that it's not sexy makes it less sexist and objectifying than if it was an overtly sexual fantasy in nature. yes, she has massive breasts, but I don't think there's anything pornographic about this? there ARE women in the world with large breasts, get over it! (and in this case the muse has augmented her own body - don't shoot the messenger)

I think you're taking your feminist fight to the wrong platform here tbh (on this and other threads, and infact, on a forum where artists should be able to post whatever they create, within reason). Maybe you should find a breast enlargment forum to troll?

</rant>

back on topic, On a technical level, I would try to blend the chest to the body more - it looks kinda stuck on due to unwanted dark lines at the joins on every view.

I would probably tint/alpha the highlights more too, and tone down the drop shadows (for example on the side view, her hair shadows the background - which makes it look sort of stuck on...

You are more than welcome to your opinion - and if you want to discuss it, we can happily hop to 'general conversation' (I'm a little uncomfortable that we've taken over this thread! :P)... however, personally, if I'm offended by something I'll just ignore it - moreover, if I think someones work is crappy, I don't tend to announce it to everyone, its not particularly constructive.

Above all else it damages your own psychological well being to get so angry and worked up about something so insignificant than to just move on and get distracted by something you find beautiful instead. You will never change the outdated stereotypical views of women - instead perpetuate positive thought by your own work rather than a sensless argument.

perhaps there's some truth in what you say - although I still believe that showing women positively will work more efficiently than argument will. This forum has little to do with gender issues in the workplace or in the animation industry - and I don't think tackling individuals here will help your cause, rightous as it is... so in the interest of developing your persona amongs the members of the forum, taking a less conflictory path will go a long way to making you seem less trollish :)

I'm not calling you a troll... I'm just pointing out that out of your 14 posts on the forum, two separate conversations about this same issue have come up - if you are here for the animation, ignore the posts you find offensive until you've established yourself as more than 'that random feminist', imho it seems like you're seeking these conflicts out - go get involved more generally and a few hundred posts later your opinion is far more likely to sway the community here.

There certainly is a mixture of experience on these forums, no one claims it to be a forum geared towards 'pros'. It's great that you're experienced with animation, but we don't know that, or you, because we've not had a chance to get to know you aside from these conflicts (for want of a better word) - I think a woman's touch around here could really go a long way, I just encourage you to get to know us and join in more general, less contentious issues! :)

@ruscular - sorry the thread got hijacked. lets get back on track

Looking at your character again, it seems you have some issues with double fills? (this is what causes the strange antialiasing around edges like the eyebrows, hair and breasts. Double check you're not duplicating shape fills by using the, at times less than reliable, paint bucket tool! :)
