I used it some times to line things up or for symmetry, but for freehand drawing for instance it seems to get in the way.

My problem perhaps is I wasn't trained in using illustration software so I am not sure the best way to use some of the tools. Or maybe I just need to use
the software more. There are not very much instructions in the manual about using the grid except to create rectangular shapes.

Sorry for my ignorance. Any other uses for the grid?

You'll need the grid if you do something more graphical, more "stylish". Characters and props constructed of straight lines and perfect circles only, and stuff like that.

uddhava :

have you tried setting the old programs in the Win 7 OS to work as they did in a older vs? Right click on the icon and run trouble shoot comparability. I set a old vs ( 10 ) of Adobe to run as windows xp and it works. The screen blinks out and back when it starts but it will work.
