Stick figure rig for animating

I made a generic stick figure in AS similar to the one in books by Richard Williams or Tony White. I use this to work out movements and gestures without the distraction of character details: Stick Figure v2

[edit: This file includes both versions: Stickman_v3.zip. See post below.]

Image

It's basically an expanded version of the stick figure from this thread: The Animator's Survival Kit

Features:
* Compatible with Anime Studio 5.6 or later
* Base style can be altered via Style Palette
* Each view is a single bone and vector layer using point binding
* 5 views: front, quarter front, side, quarter back, back
Bonus: Extra front view with parts in separate layers so you can layer sort arms, legs, etc.

Hope some of you find this useful. Let me know what you think. :)

Hey, thx! I'm usually not using other people's work, but this may become the exception from that rule.

Wow! Thanks a lot!

This is also helpful for me to study how to arrange different character views , 3/4, side, etc. for animating with bones.

Great stuff!

Thanks for the comments.

AnimationForum.net is running a contest for a 5-sec. intro for their videos. I thought I'd take a shot at it using a slightly improved stickman (ASP 8 ). Check out my entry here: Animation Forum "Set In Motion" Entry by neeters_guy

I only spent a day on it, but I did my best to sell the slapstick action. Hope you enjoy it, it's short and sweet. :D

A slight refinement to allow scaling of bones without deforming the ends.

Because the use of hold bones breaks the IK chain for the limbs, there is a separate skeleton to control the main skeleton. As before, this is 5.6 compatible. Download here: Stickman_v3.zip

Tried animating some dance moves with your rig. Cool stuff. Definitely a great tool to test and figure out timing and poses.

Running man doesn't look right. Needs some refinement.

haha nice animation, Neeters. This is very handy. I think I'll "steal" it and do some fun animations with it.
