I really like your music. There's a nostalgic 70's/80's feel to it.

But I really hate the red and blue glasses. I wouldn't use this technology if I were you.

My teenage son was playing with a Nintendo DS and I asked him why he was playing with a baby toy. It was actually a Nintendo 3DS. It has "no glasses 3D" or Autostereoscopy.

I was blown away! The quality is quite good and I was surprised that I hadn't heard of this before. After a bit of searching I found that there are a few other devices including an LG smartphone using this technology.

Nintendo currently has a very limited selection of 3D content available and their marketing structure doesn't look easily accessible for independent content creators. Hopefully, this technology will become more prevalent and selling content on an open App market will become a viable possibility. It may already be there for the LG 3D smartphone.

Thanks, and yep, I hear you about the red/cyan glasses. This particular clip was rendered in a side-by-side format, not red/cyan anaglyph. You can choose your 3D rendering option on YouTube, and the default is for red/cyan glasses. Click "3D" at the bottom of the YouTube player and then click "Change Viewing Method" for the other options. If you have the right hardware, you can watch this clip without the red/cyan glasses.

I'm looking at about two years towards completion of this project. Hopefully by that time, there will be a dominant 3D format. Right now it's *kind of* 3D blu-ray, but anything could happen by then.

I didn't know about those Youtube 3D interface options. No glasses cross eyed parallel works best for me. I'm just restricted to watching a small screen because I can't force my eyes to go very cross eyed. The default no glasses option actually reverses the 3d effect. Then you click again and there are new options.

Now that I can see your video much more clearly, I can make some suggestions. If you were down closer to the seats while dollying toward the stage, the effect would be enhanced. If you used a drop shadow under the facebook pop up, that might improve it.

Youtube 3D also works well with my NVidia 3d glasses, for those who might wonder!

Thanks, 2ner -- it's good to hear confirmation of some things that had been bugging me. I've struggled with the movie theater shot. I think the camera doesn't necessarily need to be closer to the seats (which I've tried and didn't like), but there's no real depth cues on the top and sides of your view. Not having depth cues in those places doesn't matter in 2D, but it definitely matters in 3D, because those parts of the screen look flat. I'd already tried putting in a ceiling and walls, but it looked small and boxy -- like an early '90s PC game. I think I've come up with a solution that helps with the 3d depth cues yet keeps things looking open. I'm going to render it tonight and, if it works, I'll post an update tomorrow.

About the drop shadow -- yeah, I agree. I've had earlier versions that had a drop shadow, but removed it for the time being. I'm going to hold off on touching that part for now, because the timing of that section is going to change (it's going to morph into the next shot, which is not yet animated).

Here's a new take on the first clip I posted:

There's still a couple things to fix, but I think you'll notice that the movie theater now has more depth cues and... actually feels like a room. I also fixed some convergence issues on the section where the photos start coming at you.

It's still a work in progress, there's things that are going to change, yada yada yada... :)

Hey Jeff, nice scenes. I really liked the zoom in through the window, the 3-d holds up well there. The effect doesn't seem to hold up as well in the scene with all the photos, I really can't put my finger on what's wrong there. Keep at it and keep us updated on your progress. :)

Whoops -- YouTube didn't retain my 3D settings for some reason. Try it again -- it should work now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t3prjRwjjs
