New Anime Studio Pro user - Character animation

Post by Hahn »

Hello all. My first post! Yeaaah! Normally I'm working in Adobe Illustrator, but I'm branching out to animation. I'm a new user to Anime Studio Pro 8 and to animation in general. Just got Anime Studio Pro this month (Aug. 6th) and have been very happy with what it can do. I have two clips I can share. The first clip was learning how to create mouth movements. I had a voice recording of my niece which seemed to fit the character and used it for the clip. A bonus was it was a short recording too. All the facial animations were done with images in switch layers.

The second clip is trying out a head turn. The head turn was used with the Morph Dials script and learning from the tutorials by, Funksmaname on YouTube. Thank you for creating those, they were really helpful. I like the results in the turn, but seemed awkward at first in creating the second image by shifting the points and lines from the first image. I imported a sketch of the face looking forward and used that as a guide. I only made one dial for the head turn, but will add others for the face.

Character animation (for greenplanet4kids.com)

Character head turn

Cheers.

Both are excellent, especially for first tries.

And you are right, your niece's voice fits the character very well.

Great - I really like your cute character style :) and your niece did a great job ;)

Glad the tutorials were helpful... feel free to ask any advice (don't guarantee I'll have the answer, but I'm sure we can come to a solution)

Really nice! Cute character, pretty good lip-syncing for a first go, I'm jealous!

Head turn looks particularly nice 8)

great expressions on the eyes and the lips. part of me kept expecting the muzzle to move a little but it looked really good.

ps: enjoyed your speed drawing vid... flipping left/right to look for balance nice tip.

flipping left/right to look for balance nice tip.
it's funny coz i originlly draw the character in my avatar facing the other way, but when I flipped it he looked completely wierd! after making a LOT of changes he is way more balanced and looks OK facing either way... I think there's an important lesson here.

One of the most freakish moment of my life was long ago when I did the flip half your face exercise, nearly fell out of my chair.

The human brain is a peculiar thing!

I discovered I had an evil half of my face and an ugly half... not ideal ;)

Both of your animations were excellent! I looked for flaws in the headturn but couldn't spot any. Great stuff :D
