Walk Cycle Tests

Post by shoepie »

I've been reading the Animator's survival Kit :0)

A couple of quick tests i've been working on, I'm hoping to do a load more this weekend so any feedback welcomed!

Good work. I'm getting that book as a Father's day present to myself :)

Anyway I like the second one the best. The timing seemed more natural. The first seemed somewhere between a sneaky walk and normal walk.

Keep up the good work. It's probably part of the book, but I like the idea of darker back limbs. Easier to tell what you're doing I suppose.

Thanks for the replies.

The book really is brilliant, I've had it for years but never really studied it properly, but now I realise why all the pro. animators recommend it!

Yeah the first one was suppose to be sneaky, I might try that one again. I had interpolations set to smooth on it which I think made it a bit juddery.

The second one is in the book, it's called the double bounce.

The second walk, the double-bounce, fits the music well. If you want first walk to look more sneaky try leaning the torso back after the passing position, then return to forward lean.

Thanks for sharing your progress.

Here's some more walk cycles I worked on this weekend. Re-did the sneak with the lean back.

I know this guy! I lost track of him for several years. He is hell of a great guy, and I would love to know where he is these days. Please do tell what forum he is in!

I had the same problem. I emailed the owner (link at the bottom of the page) and he set me up. He said they get tons of spam and filter out alot of legitimate requests.
