Great job moorsel. I'm new to anime studio and animation in general but I know just enough to know this represents a ton of work.

I'm in no position to make criticisms about any animation aspects. I was wondering though if you'd comment about some pre-production steps, like did you write a script? Will you add dialogue and/or different music? As a beginner, I'm trying to get my head around the whole process as well as learning the software.

It's overwhelming to say the least.

Thanx Steve.

My workflow is not comparable with a professional workflow. For me creating this animation is a hobby and I spend my spare time with it. In the past I created other animations with AS Pro and my "targetted audience" are my three children. My first animation was for my oldest son, he is the main character in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJpFayeFok0 animation telling a story of a boy living in a circus. I created that animation when my son was 5 years old. It was created following a childrens book that was written by somebody we know.

My son liked this animation and would like to created an animation himself. I helped him creating this animation http://home.tiscali.nl/moorsel/StijnRomein.html . We drew and colored this on paper and scanned it into the computer. Animation was done using AS Pro.

After that my 2nd son asked me to create an animation in which he was the main character. Together we made up a story in which he "starred" in the middle of his Lego and rescued his favorite doll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4UshkZjGSU

After that my daugther asked me to create an animation for her as well. She would like to be in the animation as a princess and in the animation horses and castles. This is princess animation you can see in this forum thread. I have a kind of plot in my mind but I make the story up together with my children bit by bit, scene by scene. Whenever they are not sure how the story has to proceed I help them and guide them toward the plot I have in my mind. The princess and princes are actually my daughter and sons.

In the story I include elements of our home town Delft in the Netherlands. That is the reason why you can see snippets I "borrowed" from famous Vermeer paintings, a famous Dutch painter living and working in Delft in the 17the century. The master is even in the animation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyGwOYBH6gQ

I add a narrator or voice over telling the story and matching sound effects after I finished the drawing and animating.

So my workflow is rather unconventional I guess..... perhaps it helps you. I would recommend to start, perhaps following a simple story from a book. It is only then that you learn to see and solve the mayor tasks for creating an animation. Don't be afraid of making mistakes. I myself don't see creating a flawless animation as a goal, my main goal is having fun with my kids during the creation process and try to tell a story in visual manner and I can only hope that I will achieve that....

I created a blog in which some additional info on my project and previous project can be found. It is however in Dutch but perhaps Google Translate can give you a translation helping you to understand the blog info: http://prinsesmieke.blogspot.com/
