Looks very nice. I like how the room gets lighter (faded in, as it were) when we get closer to the window.
Just a couple of quick observations :
- The contrasts in the castle walls are so great that it breaks up the major form (the bricks vs the plaster).
- If I'm narrowing my eyes, it's not the castle which stands out but the city on the horizon (it's yellow against a blue sky, it contrasts strongly color-wise and attracts far too much attention).
- The castle should stand out more. It should be either much lighter than its surroundings or much darker. A contrast with color could be done as well (making it much more saturated in color than anything else or give it a color that contrasts with any other color).
- I would throw some light on those trees. They're completely dark. Trees get their volume from being light at the top and dark below (shade it like a ball).
- On a minor note, there are some trees near the horizon which are way too big. And talking of perspective : everything that is far away could be low on contrast (all colors going to some gray/blueish tone). This adds some more depth (atmospheric perspective).
Basically, you have 3 elements : the foreground, the castle in the lake and the background with the windmills and city.
You could have the foreground high contrast. Some sun flooded branches which split apart like curtains when zooming in to reveal the castle (splitting apart just like you did with the towers of the castle). It's something that's done a lot in animations.
The castle could be subdued in color and overall dark and gloomy. The background could be light (but low in contrast and color saturation for depth). This would separate the castle from its surroundings, a dark shape amidst light ones.
