First shot from short film

Post by AmigaMan »

This is my first animation for my short film done in Anime Studio.
There are a few tweaks to make - most notably the shakey leg!
:D I'm finding quite difficult to correct that despite bone locking and extra keys so any advice would be gratefully received.

I thought it looked pretty good! I especially liked the stuff slopping around on the spoon as it was waved around - nice touch!

I'm finding quite difficult to correct that despite bone locking and extra keys so any advice would be gratefully received.
When you lock the foot bone of a leg the IK solver can eventually find a non desired solution to the leg angles. You can avoid the weird solution by just using the rotate bone tool and setting a keyframe to one of the bones that tends to wiggle. Adding another constraint will obligate to the IK solver to find the correct solution.

Good character. I just dislike a bit the very thick layer outline (shading) I prefer a bit thiner. But it i just my taste. The rest is quite good.

Thanks for all the positive comments! :D

Genete - I will use the rotate tool only and see if that solves the 'wobbly' legs with a few extra keys. It's probably due to me trying to force the legs into a pose they don't want to rest in.

Achocran_89 - You made my day! Thanks

Ok...So when i first watched this, I thought the robot looked familiar...
Lol I just realized that i recognized it from your blog that you recently began. He is in a few of the screen shots on there. I can't wait to see the finished product!

I laughed when he laughed a bit longer than expected. Love the acting, and it's well animated, but adding some foreshortening here and there would help break the 2d puppet look. Great character, love him.

Acochran_89 - Yes, I took those blog stills whilst creating the character in AS. I hope the finished product won't be too long :D

DarthFurby - Glad you liked it. You're right about foreshortening/scaling. I did think about it but figured as he's a robot I could keep him simple. I may have another go.

Hi Dale,

I did get your message on Facebook, I have looked at your blog, the test is looking good.

Have you ever done pose to pose animation in AS?

Would love to see some from you, if you'd like to give it a go.

Hi Stu,

Thanks for the kind words.
The only pose to pose animation I've done in AS so far has been headturns that you can see on YouTube.

I am finishing another character for a shot in my project that will have to be pose to pose (point animation) so I will send you that or post it here when completed.
