concept art

Post by foundmarble »

Hello,

I have been away for quite some time and decided to see what was new in the Moho/Anime Studio world.

So I did a quick sketch (concept art for children's book) and decided to try my hand at moho..er...anime studio, i mean. This is probably the first of many.
I am hoping my skill grows in the next few weeks......Let's see

I do have to say one thing about the software...it's great ONLY if you install Fazek's (sp?) and other member's scripts/tools/buttons etc.

When I first started with moho, drawing or more properly known as, sculpting, was a HUGE pain. With the added scripts/buttons/etc., I am really enjoying the experience.

Kudos to the on going support of these scripts. :P

Nice work, very accomplished looking, and I totally agree about Fazek's (and others) tools. I couldn't live without them.

Thanks!

Also, is there a list somewhere of extra brushes that users created? I am thinking about using more and more brushes sometime in the near future. Wanted to experiment with different looks. Not to mention, brushes would be a lot faster.

Peace,

rpc9943----he was supposed to be uglier. The colors need adjusting to fit the character, but oh well, next time.

Here is another character design I have been working on for a story of my own....I used the same background (laziness). But, I did add some leaves. LOL

aww there we go, now he's sooo cute ;)

question - how do you draw your shadows in there?

I use a vector layer on top of all other layers for that character or background. I put the opacity to 10- 20 (depending on how dark I want the shadow) on the whole layer. I draw the shape of the shadow (no outline). I usually put a blur on the layer also. This helps to blend the shadow into the drawing.

There is also a lot of other tricks you can do with shadows/highlights, however, that is the basics.

I have been experimenting with simple animations. Here is an example:

Background was painted in painter x.

Your art work is exceptional. It's time to take it and create a cartoon!

Decided to use AS instead of Photoshop for a work project.

Using AS to draw seems to be getting faster and faster, however I would still like a Free Transform Tool. :)
