Post by synthsin75 »

Well, just to quit polluting other topics with us showing off, and discussing, our new animated avatars, here's the new location of the Animated Avatar Club. Maybe this will inspire a little more on our animation forum.

J.Baker,
I'd love to see your frog avatar animated. :D

DK,
Love that avatar with the AS logo.

But overall, I think Selgin has us beat so far.

Oh man! That dang duck or goose... I sit and stare at it like I'm hypnotized... I think it is sending subliminal messages. I truly believe it is trying to control my brain. ;)

I have "updated" my avatar. It's very old and not done in AS obviously. ;)

Okay, DK has just provided prizes for an animated avatar contest!! First prize will be judged by me, and second prize will be voted on by the forum. This will run about a week. Any contenders should just post in this thread.

Rules: Just try to keep the avatar dimensions and file sizes within the usual guidelines of the forum, and obviously nothing with mature content. And (sorry Vern) it should be made in AS.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the prize details for "First place"

Best Animated Avatar Competition.

First Place Prize:
A copy of Content Paradise's Loopy Bundle for AS pro or Standard Valued US$36.97

Here are the second place prize details for "Forum Favourite" Vote:

Second Place Prize:

A copy of Content Paradise's Loopy Bundle2 for AS pro or Standard Valued US$31.97

At the end of about a week I'll post a list of contenders to vote for the second place prize.

Have fun animating our forum! :D

What? a contest? Animated Avatar Club (AAC)?
In other forum we have just inaugurated the Average Artist Club and lot of jokes were made based on the acronym of AAC...
It will be funny.

And what if DK wins? ;)

I may or may not be entering but I do have a question regarding the "guidelines".

If you use the option to host the avatar from another location there is no physical size limit. For example the size limit for an avatar that is stored in the forum is 6k... hosted on a site there is no limit. My avatar is 18k.

6k is not a lot of room for animating... so... what would the suggested guidelines be?

Vern,

Well within reason. I just don't want to encourage full screen avatars, or ones that may take a long time to load. Off hand, I'd guess up to 50kb would be fine.

I don't like animated avatars.
They distract the eye and make pages much too cheery and fun.
Good idea Synthsin it's about time we saw more aspro avatars.
I'm so stuck on mine, that any new one might have to be temporary.
Also what's the deadline? I've already got all my spare time stolen for other @#1$*ing work.

Are you sure it's not already controlling you?

Hmmm..this could be interesting. I might just have to try to find time to come up with something. Between finals and my music juries that's been pretty hard to do lately.

And yes....the duck goose thing is a mind controlling fiend...I'm sure of it!

oh and suggestion..as proof that the avatars were made completely in AS you should make it a requirement to share the anime file....just a thought??
