Just trying out a few things. The city stuff was from the models included with Cararra -just wanted to try out the Toon rendering settings, the timeline and alpha stuff and worked ok (the Toon render is one version older than the 3rd party creator has on his site. The new one is very nice! )
The jpg is a render from Moho of part of the background. I drew the rocks, trees and hills in PSP -decided to try out PSP's vector tools a bit. Couldn't figure out how to get them from PSP to Moho as vectors so just saved as png's and brough them in.

neat
how did you obtain the 3d look?
I'd like to think you were talking about my background but likely you mean the street. That actually is 3D. Carrara has a very similar keyframe animation thing so I managed to use my little Moho experience to just animate the camera and saved it with transparency.
On the off chance you mean the background you can actually make very realistic looking textures with shading and light, fiddling with perspective and using lots of layers and so on. I have been fiddling around with drawing game textures for the past year or so and while no expert I have found you can actually come up with photographic quality stuff with a little work. If you want you can look at this door texture I did here http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/I ... /ID/232531 drawn with PSP8. I think I have a big version with all the layers saved in PSD format if you are interested. In fact here is the link but it is almost 8 megs. Still will give you an idea.

If you really want to get into something cool -if deep- check out http://www.drjohnruss.com Site seems down right now but he is an image expert and has an article called something like "Seeing the Scientific Image" which talks about how humans percieve depth, lighting and all that good stuff in a pretty simple (as far as the subject goes) way helped me improve the level of realism in my drawing.
The hard part for me is drawing toons. I keep wanting to add too much detail and I can't quite figure out what colors to use, line thickness etc.
