Motion Portrait: Instant 3D animation from photos

This is totally amazing, no word on whether mere mortals will get access to the software, but WOW! The photo examples are cool, but so is the anime...

The company site http://www.motionportrait.com/e/ has lots of additional info - still amazed...

WOW - the dog follows the mouse cursor round the screen!!!

Simply amazing. Goes a lot further than bones or simple point animation.

Makes you wonder what's coming next :)

this is amazing, but i don't think it is so further than bones. actually, y see something as the vern's turning face (the famous) made reusable.
ok, it's not possible in AS, but i think it's not so far from bones neither.

It's impressive, but it's impressive in a "big studio can shave minutes off each days' production" way, rather than impact a small studio/single person. You still have to plan to include it in the production flow, and for a small or one-man concern the return on investment in money and training may just be not worth it.

But like I said, it's impressive!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

It is very much like crazytalk. Which, is fun for about a day, then the "wow" factor kinda wears off. Not to mention it makes everyone look like a creepy robot:
