http://www.archipelis.com/ it looks very interesting for static background meshes.
The demo is very limited: no exporting , U can use one immage ( a rhino..) and U can pay only with paypal (why?)

Thanks for the link...

This software is incredible...
The demo is very limited as you said ! :(

But it's amazing to see we can create a 3D rhino in a few seconds !!!

Maybe the version 2 will have bones to animate !?!

I remember seeing something like this a while back. I don't know if it's the same thing but it seems to work the same. What I had seen was a video of a program in very early development.

It was so easy to use very young children could create and animate in 3D.

This is very cool. Just amazing really.

Well, the meshes have a too high polycount to be animated but U may import in AS as static meshes, linked them with a skeleton ad give limited animations.

The question is: who will be the guinea pig that ll buy the software first?

I could be this guinea pig !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried to buy it but impossible to create an account on Paypal !?!
All my passwords were refused !?!

I think they will lose many customers with this rhino fixed picture and the too big limitations...
The most people have to test a program with more possibilities to spend money...

I will inform you if I may buy it !?!

"The pig" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wrote them , they said that use paypal because their bank gave him a 10 dollar feet on every single sold unit.

:( Moho was the most costumer friendly demo ever.

This is one of the most unfriendly.

Says it all, doesn't it? They just want your money, nothing else. The software is just an excuse to let you empty your wallet.

I've seen this before. Some vendors try to sell software only by publishing PDF files of what you are supposedly can do with their software. However, you can't really try before you buy, etc. And in cases there is a demo, they crafted it so, that it barely works, but more often crashes on you. I wouldn't be surprised in such cases that if you'd dig in the (closed) source, you'd find some GPL code in there.

@ Rasheed :
I'm afraid you could be right...
Why to give so many limitations if the program is OK !?!

@ Red hamster :
They answer (in french !) there will be no animation option in the nearly next versions... They only think (?) about it for the... future !?!
They offer me to pay by checks to an address in France...

But your comments are so true...
I think I will wait because it seems not to be very serious !?!

I will ask them for a more "opened" version !?!

Thanks

The software demo can load a model only in the proprietary format but it have a rhino vrml model in the directory (you can't load vrml model..)

anyway , if you want to model simple meshes for As there are

Yes... I know Smoothteddy...
I had used the first release Teddy + Chameleon to make some characters for educational games...

Another one (very similar) was VteddyMFC...

Archipelis was interesting with this new approach : image --> rotoscoping --> 3D mesh !!!
But I have received an answer of the authors about a less limited version : <<NO ! There is no other demo version !>>
I told them we are many people to be interested in Archipelis but we are afraid about a such limited demo version which could hide some bugs or big defaults ! So we would like to know if there is another demo version with more options to test !

The (small) answer to my long mail maybe shows you're right here with your doubts !!!

@ DK :
I don't understand your expression in english... (Sorry !)
Do you mean you'll never buy it or you will buy it !?!

@ red hamster :
I have offered to Archipelis to make a test for me because I can't test myself with the transformation of a 2D toon into a 3D toon by rotoscoping... I sent her an image... Wait and see !!!
Because this kind of (good) transformation could be a reason to buy it...

I will inform you...
