OpenToonz v1.2 released!

Post by herbert123 »

Although called a "minor" update, this version includes:

- a horizontal timeline which is zoomable (!)
- MyPaint bitmap brush engine that expands OT's bitmap painting capabilities far beyond the initial release
- Guided drawing for vector brushes
- flip viewer horizontally and vertically
- export soundtrack only
- new note level type (in addition to regular comments the animator can now insert notes in frames)
- custom command bar panel
- new xsheet/timeline command bar
- all Windows builds can be made portable
- edit values with middle mouse button drag
- Mojo brush set for MyPaint
- touch screen controls
- xsheet header redesign
- couple of new FX

and many bug fixes and smaller/bigger workflow and user interface enhancements.

The Western version of ClipStudio supports direct native export to OpenToonz now as well. I use ClipStudio myself, and it works like a charm: create your animation in CS, export, and import in OT. Very powerful combo.

Hey Herbert, does it import the Vectors of clip .clp or only bitmap exports?

From what I understand CSP lets you work with vectors internally but only exports raster.

Yes I know that , I use CSP all the time but not opentoonz, I was wondering if Opentoonz opens the clip files ( allowing vector editing) or is opentoonz just a way to better time the CSP exported bitmaps?
Seems a lot of handling .

The only thing I can think of is OT has tweeting so you can add that to CS animation.
I have only started to learn OT( I mean like one day) and I still find myself going back to importing CS as .psd into Anime studio pro 11.For tweeting and animation.

Bitmap. However, when you export your black and white strokes into OpenToonz, it takes literally a minute to convert those strokes to center-line vector strokes with dynamic thickness that look absolutely identical. And are resolution independent and editable in OT.
