Lots of crashes to me with several versions that I have tried, more than any other program at least... And, for the other issue, have you tried CINEMA 4D? The render times in "similar" proyects are inbatible in comparison...J. Baker wrote:Never had any crashes or issues. Sweet program but with any 3D animation program, rendering takes some time.

We did a lot with blender for a trashy sci fi series. It's a really great program with a very own kind of logic e.g. you press the right mouse button to select things. The program has a very steep lurning curve but if you master it you will get a really great tool. You can even do radiosity and games with it. And there is a nice little toon shader as well.mwtoons wrote:...thanks for the blender tip...

thanks pintman. I will play around with it. As a teacher anything I can use for free is great! I am learning animation as a hobbie, but I teach a liitle of it at the school I teach at.

$300 is a very reasonable price for a powerful animation program like A:M and the render quality, although lacking, can produce good results. I've had crashing problems too in some versions, but those eventually went away with bug fixes and updates (which are frequent). The character modeling in A:M is the most pleasant and intuitive of any 3D program I have used, but for non-character modeling you're better off something else. It's great for "cartoony" 3D modeling and renders, but not so good for photorealistic effects.

Is not that expensive but ..you can't import so you can' t use preexisted models and okay , I am not sure that I 'll be able to do anything with it.
The movies in ther website are wonderful, my jaw dropped to the floor but 300 is not that cheap for me, now.
I dl jpatch and try to model something.
After several hours I gave up. For me , milkshape is much more easy to use.
