A good, bare bones video editor for exported AS files?

A good, bare bones video editor for exported AS files?

Post by jjwinks »

I typically use Pinnacle for video editing, but I've noticed that it immediately degrades the quality of anything that AS exports.

I've tried throwing footage into WMM, but I've had problems with it recognizing files.(No Picture, just a solid color)

Is there a good program, freeware or other, that does a good job of joining files? I can pretty much export exactly what I want, so I don't need any trimming, just joining.

I've recently downloaded virtualdub. I've only opened it once. It seems to treat video files nicely, but is it able to do anything more than trim?

Basically I just need a simple, lossless video editor. I can handle crashes and minimal "Goodies". I just need the visual quality that AS exports to be maintained.

Pretty much every video editor should be able to do this. Just keep the in quality good, use png-sequences, DNxHD or something similar lossless.
Then use some good codec with good settings for output, like h264 mp4s or similar.

Your problem is most likely because you are using some lossy format/codec in input or render.
