I am planning to install that but I heard that you need to have no OS for it to properly run. Is that right?
Support open source. VLC download.

What?

An OS is an operating system, which is windows or osx, or linux or whatever, basically what your computer needs to run any software, so you definitely need AN OS of some sort.

Maya's like $3,000 so perhaps you need to learn a bit more about computers before you buy something that expensive..

Maybe there is also an misunderstanding.
You see, for video cutting you can get a complete system, computer, monitor, and other needed equipment with software, which does all perfectly fits in, that means: no trouble by hardware or software drivers.
Maybe there was also an offer for Maya as a complete system.
Simply plug in and work.
Allright, but this nice package should cost more than $ 10 000!
Have fun.
