Importer from Anime Studio into LightWave 3d.

Post by Dodgy »

Hi all,

A while ago I wrote an importer for taking anime studio .anme/.moho files and importing them into Lightwave. Would anyone be interested in this, or testing it?

Hi,
do you mean, that it is possible to import an animation from AS directly in LW? Yes, I am interested in this.

Greetings

Hi Dodgy. I'd love to test it out for you!!! Is this different from importing eps files into LW modeller using the import eps option where you get a closed flat polygon or are you talking about importing entire scenes as as BG into Layout?

Cheers

It has two parts, a modeler loader which converts the shapes into splines, and a layout importer which uses the mesh generated with the .anme file to make a close approximation to the actual animation. Not everything is perfectly adapted, and it's not yet feature complete, but it does quite a lot already.

Hey Dodgy!
Which platform is the program written for? (I assume Windows) and what was the programming language used?
Can you tell us what's the license you want to use to publish it? Would be the source code available?

I would like to be able to export the Anime Studio vectors to any other vector format.

Thanks.

Hey...that's good thinking Genete. Lightwave can output many different formats as well but the input formats are .lwo (for modeler) and .lws (scene file for Lightwave Layout). It could be possible to find a format converter for these.

It IMPORTS into LW, so it takes the .anme file and reads it into LW. What you do with that is your own fun :)

Hey Dodgy.
Does the plugin work natively with LW9?

Yup, it's a generic plugin, so just add it like any other, then put it in your file menus....Or somewhere...

Thanks Dodgy.

I don't want to be a pain but is it possible to upload a snap of what the AS file looks like imported in a 3D App like LightWave?

Cheers
