Anyone here hate content paradise? Hands up

Post by cribble »

So i've just been on the site to try and find my serial - while this was very easy, i couldn't believe how slow the site was. Like, there's so much content it'll take forever to load.

Anyone else hate it?

since i have adblock plus and hiding helper i'm not worry about this kind of sites.
i don't hate it, but i don't visit it much either. it's as a "bad" site, but without porn banners.

*congratulations for your 800th post. what gift they gave you?

I started using CP when I bought Poser 7. I got a free passport for 6 months, and downloaded a massive amount of content for free. They are much better to deal with than the parent company, and when deals are finished at e-frontier, you can still usually get them at CP for a while longer.

The site is a bit quirky, and can be slow, but I tend to go there while America sleeps :) How can anyone hate it?

Hate is a pretty strong word.

I do think the site is "over designed". When the design slows down getting to the content this is bad. Ultimately you would want a site like this to be as sparse and fast loading as possible for quick access to actual useful stuff.

If you want to buy and download something... and your browser slows to a crawl because of a bunch of Flash elements animating or huge images downloading... that can be annoying.

Is content paradise "owned" by efrontier? Or is it a separate entity? They only sell efrontier products right?

Yep - I hate it too.

And I have complained about the performance to the support guys a number of times without, it appears, much success. Yes - it is far too engineered with roll-over images and all sorts of stuff going on in the background. I've compared it with other 3d content sites (DAZ3D and Renderosity) and it paled and fails to deliver.

But I've also had disappointing support from e-frontier when attempting to download Poser 7 (almost 2Gb!) - no great feedback when I suggested splitting the download into 3CD's - especially when the 2Gb downloads were failing and there was no resume.

I'm also a Passport user which came free with P7 but you can download the weekly freebies with your Poser/AS serial number.

I welcome the fact that there is a source to obtain AS content but I feel that both e-frontier and Content Paradise could do so much better. The best community that I have come across is Renderosity - and the producers are the most generous and customer oriented.

Great to see new members really getting into the swing of things.

First post to a Poll about Content Paradise, with a little advert for Rendo thrown in for good luck, and just joined today too. Naw - couldn't be .....

Not a coincidence but somebody with a beef about CP which is what prompted to register and reply. I've been buying 3d content since 2005 and just got ASP last year so I've been lurking for quite a while.

Thing is....

This forum grew out of the support for Moho. It is vibrant and supportive. Whereas, the experience I have had of feedback from Content Paradise and eFrontier are the opposite - both support and forums. And I was just providing an example and comparison between this forum and the active support that I've had from Renderosity over the last couple of years (sadly RO don't do much in the way of 2D + animation).

Yes.

I think that accurately describes my emotional response to CP.
