moho 12.5 no .mp4 export option, cant import any video format either
hi,
Having some real problems with Moho 12.5, I'm on windows 10 and its a fresh install.
I cant seem to import any video file it just comes up as a ? in a box, ive tried converting it to multiple formats but no luck. The original format was a .avi ripped straight from youtube.
More worryingly, I only have a very basic set of export file formats.
I cant export .mp4's or anything, and i have no idea why! I've installed k-lite codec pack and it did nothing.
I#m really struggling to wrap my head around this! please help!

If I remember, you have to have Quicktime Essentials (not the player, which has a security vulnerability) installed to export mp4.

Do you have only the x64 version of Moho 12.5 installed? If I remember correctly, you need both the x64 AND x32 versions installed to use QuickTime. I think this is because QuickTime is x32 and Moho x64 uses some kind of background trick to render with the x32 version.
Ok, I just checked the manual, and the above info is correct.
From the manual:
FWIW, I don't think this is the case for Moho 13 but I'm not 100% sure about that.

From the manual:
The manual makes it sound like this is only if you want the alpha channel but I think this is necessary to render QuickTime movies in general.Due to differences in media support between Macintosh and 64-bit Windows OS, you will need to use the 32-bit version of Moho Pro to import and export MOV files that have alpha channels.
FWIW, I don't think this is the case for Moho 13 but I'm not 100% sure about that.

This from the Apple web page at https://support.apple.com/kb/DL837?locale=en_USQuickTime 7 is for use with Windows Vista or Windows 7. If installed on other versions of Windows, it may not offer full functionality.
The OP specified he was using Windows 10.
After saying that, I don't have Windows 10 so I have no idea, but maybe quicktime is interfering with native Windows 10 support for MP4.

I managed to get .movs working in 32 bit (obviously), so its a start, but why cant i see .mp4's?
Re: moho 12.5 no .mp4 export option, cant import any video format either
That's really weird. I have mp4 in my Moho 12.5. I think mp4 should be listed whether you have QT or 32 bit Moho installed or not.
Installing 32 bit Moho just makes QT available to 64 bit Moho (assuming you also have QT installed,) but .mp4 should be available regardless.
I'll look into this when I get home tonight.

In the v12 manual:
So the only MP4 codecs are Apple, hence QT.• MP4: When choosing MP4 format, the following presets are available:
Apple M4V (H.264-AAC): Saves the movie in mp4 format using an H.264
video and AAC audio codec. Windows 7 or higher.
Apple M4V (JPEG-AAC) (Macintosh Only):

I believe that's only because Apple quit supporting QT on Windows after Win7.WesHowe wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 1:13 amThis from the Apple web page at https://support.apple.com/kb/DL837?locale=en_USQuickTime 7 is for use with Windows Vista or Windows 7. Re: moho 12.5 no .mp4 export option, cant import any video format either
but .mp4 is a supposed to be a default output right?
Re: moho 12.5 no .mp4 export option, cant import any video format either
These are the options I see in Moho 12.5 on my personal laptop:
I'm on Windows 10 and I noticed with surprise that I don't have Quicktime installed on this computer. It's a fairly new computer and I probably just never got around to it. Also, I think many of the programs I use now support Quicktime and ProRes natively without installing Quicktime. (Not surprisingly, I don't have the export option for .mov in Moho but I'm not terribly concerned about that.)
So, that said, I'm not sure why the options are limited on your computer. If I find out anything, I'll post here.

OK, I am as confused as I ever was. But I uninstalled Quicktime. Even rebooted.
Nonetheless I have (before and after) both M4V and MP4 export options (both claim to be H.264-AAC encoding).
Still on Win7 (sp2).
No idea how the OP's problems come about.
