Hi all,
I'm thinking of upgrading my comp and wondering, "to what extreme I should go."
One of my biggest concerns for the upgrade is the rendering times in Moho Pro.
My question is ...
How many cores does Moho Pro support?

Re: Rendering Cores
Only four cores for rendering.

Re: Rendering Cores
When I asked the devs about this a few years ago, I was told the reason it was fixed at four was because Moho's rendering efficiency peaked at four cores. But that was based on test results from several years ago. They were considering expanding the number in a future release or providing the option to set it to what the user wanted. I'm not sure where that stands now though.
Hopefully, the current devs will re-assess Moho's multi-threading capability so it can take full advantage of modern computers with higher ram capacity and CPU power.
In the meantime, I would go for whatever you can afford. Even if Moho stays at four for a while, other programs you might use (compositing, video editing, 3D animation, etc,) can benefit from more cores.

Re: Rendering Cores
Thanks for responding and the great info.
Now I just have to make a decision! lol
Is it Threadripper 2 or wait for intel to respond?! hhmmm
Anyway, it would be to great to be able to utilize the performance standards of today's tech.
So what about a small render farm?
Can Moho share the rendering process?

Re: Rendering Cores
Yes, but only through command line or third party controllers.
I think there are a few commercial render controllers that can render Moho natively. At work, we have programmers who set this up for us. At home, I have a render farm for 3D and heavy-duty compositing, but for Moho I just use Moho Exporter. Moho is generally pretty fast at rendering, especially if you use Layer Comps and do the compositing in another program like Fusion or AE.
