Character Wizard malfunction

Hi again,
I've been away from Moho for almost a year, and now am getting back into it, so I'm having to re-learn everything I used to know.
If I try to open a character created from the Character Wizard, Moho takes a long time attempting to load it, with lots of flashing on screen, and then when it finally thinks it's done, I just get one layer displayed, such as an arm or something, and anything I click on in the layers pane just makes it start flashing all over again. I've tried rebooting the PC, tried selecting different character templates, same behavior no matter what.
Anyone know what might be going on? This is the exact same system I was on last year when I was working fine with Moho every day including the character Wizard.
