Rookie In Need of Help Regarding Bones

Post by chiefr_suthrland »

I've done this before with perfect results, there must be a step I'm forgetting here. I turned down all the "Bone Strengths", could've swore that's what causes this type malarki. Please let me know if you know how to fix this...thanks!

If the arms have no bone strength, the torso bone strength could be too low. Or maybe you need to switch to regional binding, or you have a few points in the torso point bound.

Thanks Synth, I already solved that problem though. I remembered what you guys told me last time about point-binding. Quick question though, do you know how to create a walk cycle using smart bones? I finally got my mouths alternating properly with the help of smart bones, but I haven't been able to figure out how to properly utilize it for walking.

You shouldn't need it for a plain walk.
The only purpose a smart bone set up might have ( that I can think of) if the increase the speed of a cycle.
Once you have a walk cycle completed, set a smart bone to rotate at about ten cycles of the walk.
Then the rotation of the smart bone will control the speed of the cycle.
This isn't my favourite technique though, I think just separate cycles of different speeds of walk are better as you can change the whole attitude and momentum of the character for the different walks.

Some times is better to check if all the layers are binding to something, if not they will move ramdonly or with the next more strong bone, so to be sure check the binding of each layer and dont let any without bind
