Can't move selected shapes

Post by Smiler Entertainment »

I'm entirely new to Moho. I'm trying to make Tracer and I'm trying to move her (highly detailed) back arm. But when I select the arm to move it, it de-selects everything and I can't move it.

Can someone tell me what tool to move everything I selected? I'm using Debut 12.

Hi Smiler,
I can only guess the problem, it's not clear yet. Is the arm on its own layer? Do you want to move it for animation or are you assembling the character? To animate on the timeline, you must first create a skeleton for your character on frame zero and bind each part to the right bone. You can find out how to do this in the tutorials that are available under Help in the program. There are tons of tutorials on YouTube made by helpful users as well.

If you want to directly select a layer on screen without having to find it in your group of layers, press Alt(or Option) and click on the layer with your right mouse key. To move the layer, say, to adjust its position in the character, you can either use the layer tool or - after selecting all points with Ctrl(Cmd) + A, press T to use the translate tool. You can then move, rotate or scale the layer.

There are other methods of animating in Moho besides bone animation, but normally new users will save that for later, bones are the dominant method. Good luck with your first project.
