Target Bone / Smart Bone Problem

Hello,

I have played a bit with the wonderful target bone and smart bone features. In my example I ran into problems, when combining those techniques with the legs of a character. It would be great if someone could give me an explanation of what went wrong or if there is a better way to reach my goal.

Here you can download my example file (10kb, .zip), made with ASP 10 Pro:
http://turbotoons.de/cloud/data/public/f5e3e6.php

There are two simple characters in it.
- The yellow one works fine with the use of target bones for the feet.
- The blue one is a copy of the yellow one, but I defined the lower legs as smartbones and tried to correct the morphing of the knee bend, when bending the hole leg. After that, the setup doesn't work anymore in the way I expected (The feet wandering around, ...). Is there a conflict between smart bones and target bones?

Any help is very welcome :-). Thanks!

Your right leg smartbone action has most of the bones on frame one keyframed. Delete all the bone keyframes except the one for that smartbone.

Hi synthsin75,

yeah, that was the point. I should be more carefully with the "freeze pose" shortcut when using smartbones.
Thanks a lot for your help, you made me very happy!

Yeah, you need to be very specific about what you keyframe in SB actions. Glad to help.

Why would you be wanting to download it? It w as a non-working file someone put up to get assistance with. The problem was corrected, and life went on...
