Yeah, strange I haven't received an email yet from Smith Micro. Exciting news nonetheless. Can't wait!

Well that explains why I didn't get any email from SM. Its for new purchasers and not us upgraders.

So, looking at the link Selgin put in it looks like ASP9 is not actuallyu OUT yet. They're just saying to new users buy version 8 and then get 9 at a discount when it comes out. So we will probably all get an email about upgrading when 9 actually comes out and is available.

When Flash and Toon Boom have ANY features as good as Anime Studio, then I'm sure Smith Micro will think about putting frame-by-frame in. And maybe they'll increase the price to the same as Flash and Toon Boom, too.

But seriously, I think they might have mentioned it if FBF was in version 9, so you'll probably be disappointed.

Wait a minute, so If I wanted to do traditional frame by frame animation, I cannot do it on Anime Studio Pro??? Why not...I thought that was basic and provided to all animation software.

you "can" but it is not what it is made for... you can tighten a screw with a knife too, but a screwdriver is always better.
If you want to do traditional frame by frame animation, buy some paper and pencils :)

I don't use tools for any purpose other than what they are made for. I have paper and pencils, and a scanner. What I need is a single animation software program that can do what Anime Studio can do...but also the "tedious" frame by frame if I so chose. I need a tool that is a screwdriver and a knife.

Not possible. You wouldn't combine a saw and a hammer in one tool.

Agreed. Now I'm thinking more like "Tool Belt" and I am now done with tool analogies :) Where can I find a decent animation software that can do both? Thanks for the help. I guess I am still just looking.
