If that's true, this is new in version 8.2, because I was able to run AS in english in all other versions before, and all other software still works in english as I want it to.

EDIT: Just received email from Support. Indeed they say "Anime Studio Language is dictated by the Operating System Language." There's just one flaw in this answer: obviously other users _have_ that choice.

Well, I'd call the omission of select my language a serious bug.

Is there another Mac user with version 8.2 pro who could verify that the language select option is indeed visible in the preferences?

I am on WIN 7... Filepath in illustration (Do backup!)

I suspect you could rename Strings.EN.txt to Strings.DE.txt to achieve the desired result.

Please verify... did the job on my box, converted English to Duetsch.

Points to a way to translate to other languages, yes?

Ha!

After everything else failed (Support told me to install while OS is in english, I did (after deleting all files!), but when I switched OS to german AS also opened in german again), rocky had the right approach.

I only dragged the Strings.DE.txt out of the Strings folder (and kept it elsewhere) - AS started in english, obviously because it hadn't any choice ...

Thx for all your input. I was getting seriously pissed about this - I don't like it when software tries to be smarter than me.

I stepped back in because:

A) I assumed customer support knew their product better. Long leap between the techies and 'support' people although, in fairness, they did resolve a problem for me.
B) I was seeing some very poor, at times outlandish, response to your queries
C) I could sense your frustration.
D) Whales do not fly.

(pick three)

Clearly such a workaround should not be needed which has me curious as to whether it is:

A) A source issue... (from Smith, or a certified re-seller or pirate Sam?) or ...
b) Are there variants by country and or OS? (seems unlikely)

Clearly the software is not all that smarter than anyone... Programmer burnout/midnight work may be the cause. I know you by your work here and find you to be quite brilliant. (and helpful)

Happy to brighten your mood... the usual free forum charge applies. :)

Slowtiger,

Glad to hear you resolved this problem. That took a while. I remember I couldn't open one version of ASP I purchased. After a long time I ended up reinstalling my operating system and that solved the problem. Hope you enjoy the upgrade to 8.2.
