Yeah, I learnt on AS 6 then bought AS7 but had to get my money back cos of the interpolation bug. But bought it again once 7.1 fixed it.

You can afford to be selfish because the tools and features you use have been cleared of bugs by the developer. Not so fun when a bug stops you from doing your work. I haven't been using switch layers, so the interpolation bug would have gone by unnoticed to me. However, because someone who's complete workflow was disrupted by this bug made a complaint about it, it was eventually fixed. The only thing to get fixed as far as I see. Now if I choose to use the switch layer, at least I know that bug wont be a problem. That's the reason everyone should be concerned about bugs being stamped out. If you found bones to no longer work in version 8, you would be okay with version 9 coming out and version 8 left untouched? Being selfish is the reason to be concerned about bugs. They usually only affect you if you use a certain tool or feature in a certain way. The multi-processor bug wont affect me now as I only have a single core cpu. But no doubt when I get a new computer, it will have at least two cores. so then it will affect me. Had I have your attitude, then it would be quite ironic that I had no concern over this bug.

Perhaps it only effects certain machines?

I believe this multi-processor bug is related to embedded scripts. It was documented in another thread. It's another example of a bug affecting a user only if they use the app in a certain way. Until you're knee deep in it, you wont be concerned at all. I don't think it's just particular machines, as the bug has been confirmed by other users going through the same process, and leaving AS to just one core seems to stop the crashes. ponysmasher says the multi-core rendering is problematic with large images and 3d objects. All these may not stop the animation from being created but they do stop it from being rendered.

By the way, Danimal ended their post with "Call me selfish", and you seem to have taken my explanation of why bug fixes are a selfish desire as an slight on you, judging from your use of selfish in your post. There's nothing wrong with praising someone on their good work, but with that in mind you must see the other users concerns that, because it's a one man band, time is in short supply, so when they see that known, and sometimes long-standing bugs are not being seen to, or highly demanded features are ignored in place of things with less usefulness, then maybe you can empathise with their annoyances.

No I can't. I'm no crusader for the masses. If it does what I want it to do then I'm pleased. I have better things to do than worry about if someone else is happy or unhappy with it or to hypothesize over what may happen in some distant release.

Hey Danimal, what you quoted me on was directed to benecosse, as was the rest of my last post. You already made yourself clear before - you're happy with AS and you want to be known as selfish. Whatever the case, I was just pointing out that bug fixes and feature requests are usually self motivated. At least speaking from my point of view. I want bugs squashed because I know that one day I might use those features, and therefore would prefer if they worked as advertised. Drawing tools and bezier handles, and anything else I request are purely for my own uses [although others would benefit]. It's not altruistic at all, and I'm not accusing you of trying to be anybody's 'crusader' or even trying to motivate you into writing up bug reports of even confirming them. You seem to have started on the defensive with a quote relating to the character wizard tool, which is a response from ponysmasher's post. Don't even know what your comment on 7000 hour head turn rigs was.

Is there any chance for ASP to be rewritten to be suitable for a 64-bit OS, even in the distant future?
Rendering can take a lot of time when the program is limited to use a memory of only 4GB.

I'm quite certain it was not. I was quoting from the feature list and stating that it looks like an excellent feature that might help make animating a little easier. I honestly hadn't even read anyone else's posts outside of the original showing the link to the new software.

What a wonderful world it would be if only we could be happy with what we have rather than trying to champion for something we don't use or trying to read into people's statements for some subtext that isn't there so that we can again champion for other people by trying to jump to their rescue.

I wish they were targeting the Flash/Toonboom market instead.
To me what sounds most interesting is the new scripting thing.

Who is jumping to whom’ rescue? What makes you think others are not happy with what they have? ponysmasher stated he will already purchase the upgrade regardless. You make sweeping generalisations , yet you, yourself think setting up rigs is ‘tedious’, and you are looking to the next version, but apparently will not even consider that others may be equally as content with AS, but would like ‘x’ feature or bug fix.
