one part of my frame is slowing everything down...

Post by lovebiscuit »

I've created a three-layer moving background, simply a landscape to appear behind a character in the foreground who will be sitting in a car and driving through the countryside.

But the background is causing my system to run very slowly.

Before I now start on the character, is there some way of consolidating the background - not rendering it but executing it in some way that would free up my system resources?

Every time I do something now, the system takes 10 secs to respond!

If the background has no animation you can just render it as jpg or png and import it back. Another solution would be to just make the background invisible while you are working on the character.
Sorry for bad animation

You can also try to decrease the quality with the display quality button above the timeline.

You can also hide the background layer clicking on the little triangle next to the layer name and checking "hidden on editing view". This way you won't see the background meanwhile you are animating, but it will be on the final render.
