For example about frame to frame animation... what softwares are good...?
I know Toonboom, flash, Retas Pencilman, retas Stylos, plastic animation paper.

PAP and pencilman are bitmap drwing, the others are vector. The problem of the vector programs are the poor quality of the line (except stylos that have a natural feeling whereas it's vector).
I liked Stylos but still haven't got the efficient workflow with it.
I discovered PAP and seems just nice for sketching (haven't really tested it yet)... but idoesn't include a complete workflow like stylos.
How do you traditional animators organize your workflow (Am I in the right thread? ^^;)... I like also open canvas for drawing but, is there a software in wich we can do anything at last????
Yes : flash... but... it's also poor in quality and rather clumsy... and not appropriated for animation in fact.

But doesn't allow to use the pencil with opacity relative to the pen pressure (which STYLOS does, well in fact emulates very well... with a very thin line)...

BTW, the real great advantage of stylos was to automatically paint the lines delimiting the shadows with the right color (the color of the shadow). Seems no other software does it .

Well, seeing you're talking about workflow, use all of the programs.

Use Stylos to draw (seeing that you like it), theTAB or MoHo (maybe toonboom or PAP) to animate and vegas/premiere as a video output.. or Flash for web.

There you go, a work flow.

In fact I thought about that.. but I can't buy all the softwares on eart (and the import feature is not always simple).
Well for the moment I found that it's rather easy to animate PNG in moho so I'm testing the stuff right now... (for the moment)

If you like openCanvas you might want to check out Frame Toon http://www.portalgraphics.net/ja/frt/products.html . It's from the guys that make openCanvas, and is basically an animation version of it. Seems very nice, at leaste from the demo I tried.

p.s. I'm hoping they get an English version out some time soon, so the rest of us can use it. Ah well, one more reason to learn Japanese.
