cutting corners
For someone like me that works to many hrs. and gets little time to animate, let alone try to learn the software and be creative. My Question is this.
How cheesy (lazy) is it for someone like me that has no interest in making animation a living, to take software that I bought 12 years ago to use for designing homes and incorporate it into AS?
I was Drawing A house for my sister and I asked myself "why can't i use this in AS?"
As most of you know I been having trouble with making background buildings with perspective.
I did not spend any time animating this of getting the front cabinet cut out just right.

I can make old western building with this software.

It looks great! I see no problem using whatever software we can lay our hands on to assist us in creating animations. Purists might disagree.
But I am with you... there is so much to learn and do when creating an animation that any way we can find to save time in the process is worth testing.

If it were up to purists, Anime Studio wouldn't even be allowed to exist. I say, any time someone comes up with a clever innovation that looks good, go for it. I love this and you're right -- if you hadn't told me, I totally would have assumed this was vector-based.
What's the name of the old program you're using? A friend of mine is an architect. I wonder if he has an old version of his own around.

MadReindeer, Its an old "Broderbund" 3D home architect program Deluxe 3. This one I have is for windows 95/98 CR 1999. I have been using the textures from this program for months now and never really thought of using the 3D portion of it until yesterday.There are newer versions(version 9 is out now) that are real powerful and real simple to make 3D images.
That looks great, sbtamu! I also wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't said anything. This is exactly the kind of thing I want to do with 3d. And I've also tried using non-animation programs for 3D. I made elements like a bus in solidworks and a room with furniture etc. in catia. But I don't personally have a (non-student) copy of either of these programs so I need to go a different route. I'll probably learn blender so I can import the objs. I'm getting fatigued learning so many different software packages. ;)
The program you have looks perfect. The rendering fits almost seamlessly with your characters. And if you ever need it to blend perfectly, you could always vector trace the rendered model. Nice discovery!

It's very kind of you to offer, Sbtamu, but I'm planning to use Blender so I can import objs into Anime Studio. I just need to take the time to learn Blender. Fortunately, my bro has a lot of experience with it so I can probably get the hang of it by watching him. Maybe he can demo the software by modeling all my backgrounds. bwahaha! Thanks again for the offer!
I been messing with this for a few hrs and came up with this. I managed to get some what of a smooth looking walk through. I will try and see if I can import a character next. I'm sure I will come across some sizing problems and other unexpected problems.
P.S. My steering isn't all that good and I bumped into the wall next to the fridge.
As usual any suggestions are more than welcomed.
