Anime Studio 6.1

Post by Lost Marble »

As you may have seen, version 6.1 is about to be released. Sarina, the new product manager for Anime Studio, announced the "headline" features already: Facebook uploading, French and German localizations, and entering non-English characters in text fields.

But there's more stuff that, while not especially exciting for a press release, will be of interest to experienced users here on the forum. Here's more of what's new in 6.1:

Bug fixes (more than this, but here are a few highlights):
  • Fixed a cycling bug
Fixed timeline slowdown when the document's end frame is 0
Fixed a problem with extra edges on shapes that share a construction curve
Improved auto lip sync in Pro
Fixed a bug when importing external objects
Fixed audio playback stopping after six minutes
Lost more bug fixes from the 6.0 bug threads here on the forum
Improvements:
  • Preview audio clips in the Library browser by clicking on them
Added a shortcut for Blend Morph Targets
Can enter non-ASCII characters in all text fields
    Batch window (Pro only):
    • User has the option of choosing an output folder
The current document is automatically added to the Batch list when you open the Batch window (you can always remove it).
Scripting:
  • Fixed Lua syntax checking
Expanded the scripting API by user requests:
    • Ability to blend morph targets in a script
      Scripts can work with Actions
      Scripts can work with Styles
Scripts can access the animation channel for point curvature
      Scripts can delete layers
I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

The entering of non-english characters is great!

Does the fix of imported external object include the styles of external anme files? If so, I love it :)

Preview audio is really nice and also the ability to choose folder for batch endered files

The extended scripting API also looks very promising.

Overall I'm very happy to see all this fixes and improvements :)

Can't wait to test the new update :) Thanks Mike!

Yep, that's fixed. I also made the import dialog's preview area match the aspect ratio of the document you're importing from. This should help prevent objects being outside the visible area and hence, un-previewable.

In case you didn't see the announcement thread, the download link for version 6.1 is now live. When you get to the updates page, scroll down past the paid upgrades to find the free 6.1 update.

I also vote for just the .EXE or .APP being available. It's like, 6 MB zipped or something.

I'm a total fan of small, clean, unbloated programs. Moho used to be free of bloatware. Now its chocca. :?

I just tested the anme import from library and the styles are imported and working, and also the prelisten works great except if you have long audio files inside the library, I tried to load a 4 minute long song and could not manage to do that, when clicking at the file it plays but if you double click it thinks for a while and then starts to play again but it never get imported, the smaller files is working fine. I will try some more with larger files and see if it's behaving the same again.
Is there some additional scripting dokuments available for the new functionality?
