From Standard 5.6 to Debut...

Post by El Samo »

I'm sorry to bring this subject: I haven't entered this forum in a few weeks, so I'm not up to date.

1) Let me get this straight: "Debut" is what we used to call "Anime Studio Standard". Is that correct?

2) If so, is there any improvement between those? Having read the new PDF manual, I have seen many changes and free stuff, but only for the Pro version.

3) The only changes that I have seen are: you may draw a star now, the drawing tools are disabled except in frame 0, and there is a new tool called "Scatter"... and you don't need the free-of-charge Papagayo software.

I have spent $40 already (in past February) and I'm pretty happy with AS Standard. Do you think I'll be happier forking twenty bucks more?

(They don't call me El Cheapo for nada)

yes. i think you'll find the new version much easier to work with, a much better layout and an all around improvement.
20$ is an awesome price for the upgrade.
unless you are heart set on using the version you have, i would consider the upgrade.
i have 5.6 pro and am considering the upgrade to debut (upgrade?) at the price.

Well, there are some improvements to the drawing tools as well.

One of my faves is the manipulate points with a single keystroke instead of having to go back and forth between G and T. Also, the gradient fills are much improved.

Definitely worth it, IMO, but I also think the Pro version is much more of a true upgrade.

Many "Pro" features left out of "Standard" are now in Debut. Debut is much more than it was. Some things are there but limited. Like a limited number of audio layers. You still have audio layers but you can only have 3 I think. There are other things but I don't have the whole list in my head.

I'm going Pro 5.6 -> Debut 6.0 upgrade route.

I have Anime Studio 5.0
I recently went to the website and saw the AS 5.6
[Is this different that AS 5.6 Pro?]

Is Debut 6 more powerful than AS 5.6 Pro?
If so . . . then A.S. Pro 6 is most powerful of all?

All the forms are as follows?
Anime Studio 5.0
Anime Studio Pro 5.0
Anime Studio 5.6
Anime Studio 5.6 Pro
Anime Studio 6.0 [Debut]
Anime Studio 6.0 Pro

or am I missing something.
