I had a lot of probs creating holes.
Now, after many tries in vain, I found that it was only one word that was my prob: Below we’ve added some extra curves before creating a fill shape

I think this really is not explained well and translating it into German I deceided to give this one word a whole sentence. Maybe that would help in the English manual, too. For I was not sure 'til today that I have to do the shape and all the hole/s[/b] I wanted before creating a fill shape.
Not knowing this I tried later adding more holes after creating a fill shape - and of course it did not work.
