Masking settings don't update with reference

I had a rig where my group masking settings were wrong. I updated the master rig scene and then updated the reference that's in my shot but the updated masking settings didn't come through with the reference update. This is a bug, yes?

Updating references generally updates animateable properties.

There are several properties that are not animatable (e.g. layer origin) that, if changed, are not propagated and I have to agree that, even though this is "as per spec", it is, IMO, not desirable behaviour. (I have actually raised two error reports on the masking and the more general issue - mantis 34364 and 34276.)
