Is it possible to make shapes with sharp edges?

Post by Sketch_Turner »

For strokes, there's an option in the Style tab: "round caps." If it's left unchecked, you get a line with nice sharp edges. Shapes, however, always have rounded edges, and I don't see a way to make them sharp.
Well, other than through a rather cumbersome workaround: turn the stroke off, create a duplicate shape underneath and enlarge it. But this way you won't be able to do all the cool stuff one can do with strokes.
So... any help here?

Select points, Menu "Draw > Peak".

Hm, how badly do you need it? In normal view this is imperceptible. Only when you zoom in or have an extraordinarily thick outline it's visible.

Shapes without outline do have sharp corners. I remember some 10 yrs ago in one of my fist Moho jobs I had to use characters which had been constructed in Illustrator, then imported. All outlines were separate shapes, a nightmare to animate. But the corners were sharp. That's your only option, but I don't recommend it.

You can use discrete paths/lines (black lines) with rounding turned off, or a multi-fill knockout shape to get a hard corner outline effect (blue square/s). In fact you can use the 2nd technique to get pretty much any corner style you want (with a little practice & patience).

Wow, I didn't think of that trick (2 paths)! Thx!

A third option would be to draw a sharp corner fill shape over the corners.

The two-line trick only works for 90 degree angles, but that second idea is definitely more elegant than my two-shape suggestion.
Anyway, thanks for all the advice, guys. I was really hoping there's some inconspicuous little button somewhere, but looks like I'll have to do this the hard way.
