Does anyone know if there is a draw freehand keyboard shortcut for the Select Shape Tool?
Similar to the Select Points shortcut where you hold the ctrl key down to freehand draw an area to be selected.
I have a selection of lines all on one layer that cross behind each other and trying to select the ones at the back is near impossible by clicking on the lines. It's kinda hit or miss.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

nope - there's no "lasso mode" in select shape.

one fairly simple to implement possibility would be to use the select point tool plus a (new) separate tool to select the shapes with all (or more than zero?) points selected?

FWIW...
If you hold shift, with Select shape tool active - move the mouse over the shapes and you'll have them selected.
