Switch Layer not showing all layers

Post by Gibble »

I have a switch selection (hands) and some of the hands are not showing up- yet other ones do. Any idea what is happening??

When I go into the group, the hand layers in question are visible in the Switch selection pop up window yet they disappear on the actual animation. See below:

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Without seeing the scene file itself, I'm not sure. Some screen caps of your setup might help.

Just a couple of guesses: Is the visibility for that layer disabled? First check the 'Eyeball' icon for the layer. If that's enabled, check the visibility option inside the layer's Properties Panel. If that's enabled, not sure. If you're using groups inside the switch layer, make sure the group's visibility isn't disabled.

If the Switch was controlled by a Smart Bone, I have a few other ideas about this but I'm guessing that's not the case here since you're using the Switch Selection panel.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Maybe they're set to hide in the workspace?

Thank you for your assistance, DR! You are always such a great help!
To answer your notes specifically:
The switch layer is NOT controlled by a smart bone. I am using the switch layer window.

Visibility:
I have attached some screen captures for more information. But the eye icon is on and the visibility is checked on in the properties.
All layer appear to be equal but 3 out of the 16 layers are not visible.

You have two layers called "hand open". This is likely confusing Moho.

Here's another idea: How are the hands being binded? If you're using Layer Binding with the switch layer group, it should work--all the hands should just move with the group then. But if you're binding the individual hands, make sure they all have the same binding applied. Otherwise, it's possible that the 'missing' hands are getting thrown out of frame by other bone influences.

Thank you for your suggestions Wes and DR!! You two rule!!!

PROBLEM SOLVED:

Conflicting names- having two layers with the same name in the same switch layer caused the conflict. Once I renamed the layers, it fixed the issue immediately.

Thanks again!
