Mute audio while scrubbing

Post by Jkoseattle »

Is there a way to only play audio when playing, and not while scrubbing? Sometimes it's useful to hear when scrubbing to line up events to audio cues, but other times it's just this annoying stuttering audio track I'd just as soon not have to listen to.
Most of the time I'm doing music stuff. Check me out at http://www.jimofseattle.com/music.

Maybe assigning a shortcut to Animation>Mute Audio might help?

Just click on the Speaker icon next to the Playback buttons. This toggles audio on and off.

Note that the above instruction turns off audio globally, which is probably what you want most of the time.

If you have multiple tracks and you want to disable some tracks but leave others enabled, for example, disable music and sfx tracks but leave dialog enabled, click the green dot next to the track's speaker icon for the tracks you wish to disable. The green dot becomes red, and mutes the track until you un-mute it by clicking it again.

Are you sure that works? It's not working here.

Uuuh...okay, let me check. I confess, I only import a single audio reference track most of the time, and what I wrote was an assumption. (BRB, I can quickly test there here at work.)

If it's not working, I think that's a bug?

You're right, the mute button for audio tracks is broken. Will report that.

For the OP, the global Audio button next to the playback buttons works though.

For disabling individual audio tracks, here's what does work:

Click the Eyeball icon for the audio track you wish to mute. Just as this hides image layers, this button will 'hide' the audio track from playback. Visible audio tracks will still play.

Hope this helps.

Here's a layerscript: https://sites.google.com/site/synthsin/ ... ects=0&d=1

Description: Mute all audio while scrubbing timeline

Installation: Create any layer and embed this script. If you move the Moho file, use File>Gather Media... to keep this script with the file.

Instructions: With the embedded layer selected, changing its Layers window visibility will enable/disable muted scrubbing.

Some information for people who search the forum for information (like me).

I have a video that I'm using for reference, but I don't need the audio and I don't want to see the waveform appearing on the timeline. Muting the channel still shows the waveform, however. How to get rid of the waveform?

Open the Layer Settings for the video layer and select the Audio tab. The Audio Level is 1 (default). Change it to 0 and the waveform vanishes.
