Unfortunately, no. I agree, it would be handy to select some shapes or points, and be able to auto-center the origin to the selection's bounding box.

A 'quick and dirty' method is to:

First, select the points or shapes you want to center the origin to. Notice that if the Transform Points tools is selected, the center of the selection is indicated. Unfortunately, if you try to mark that with the pen tool or switch to the Origin tool, the mark goes away. Rats! What do we do now?

Download and install the free Epic Pen tool. This is handy screen marker that should be in EVERY animator's tool box.

Launch Epic Pen. Choose the Pencil or Highlighter (I prefer the Highligher because it's transparent,) and mark the center point of the selection. Click the Arrow tool--this puts you back into Moho but leaves the Epic Pen markup on the screen.

Now you can position the origin to the Epic Pen mark up. When you're satisfied, clear the marks by clicking the Trashcan icon or closing Epic Pen.

Obviously, Epic Pen can have many uses in Moho, and this is a pretty good one. :)

If you don't want or can't install Epic Pen, a workaround is to create an unfilled rectangle with an X running from corner to corner, and transform this to cover the area you want to find the center of of the selection. The easy way is to position one corner of the rectangle where you want it, and then the scale the shape using the Transform Points tool from its opposite corner. (Be sure you're using Transform Points and not Transform Layer.) Once you're satisfied with the resize and position, switch to the other layer and move its origin over the X.

You might want to save this shape to the Library for reuse in the future.
