Selecting Multiple Layers Freezes Moho

Hey I'm completely new to Moho/Anime Studio and I'm running into an issue.
When I try to select multiple layers, say to group them, this freezes Moho. I get the Pinwheel, I can't click on anything. These are all vector layers. When I just select two layers, the wheel appears for a little bit, and both layers will be selected, which is annoying but fine - but when selecting a lot of layers it could completely freeze the program for minutes. It hasn't crashed...yet.
There are smart bones with action animations that affect the vector layers. Some of the vector layers are imported SVG's.
Is this typical? Is there something I'm doing wrong that is causing this?
