This is weird.
I've got a video that I'm animating semi-transparent arrows over. I've exported in two different QT alpha formats to see what works best. PNG and ProRes 444.
When viewing the exports by themselves, the png looks fine. The ProRes looks like the color has turned white where it's more transparent.
However, when I overlay both of those on to the main footage, the png went from a semi-transparent turquoise (the correct color) to a gray-sh color. The ProRes looks turquoise but less saturated.
Is this the way it goes? Or am I missing some button to push?
Thanks.

There's a setting somewhere adressing "export with pre-multiply alpha", try to test this with the two different settings.

Same problem. Tried with and without pre multiply alpha. Didn't change anything.
