Opacity not working on image.

Post by uncle808us »

MacBook Pro OSX El Capitan Ver 10.11.6 Anime Studio Pro Ver.11.2.1
I have an image .jpg in my layers on top of everything it is a grey cloudy sky. I want it as an over lay to everything underneath. What I want is for the opacity to be about 60% at the start then later in the animation I want the opacity to drop to about 10 or 20 %. I get the key frames for the opacity and allow animated layers is on in the layer settings but when I scrub thru the action is not there, A render test result was the same. When I play the animation in the time line same result it does not fade!
Help I'll ty to attach the file but I'm afraid it is too large. I hope you understand my problem and can help me. Thanks in advance.

I tried again and this time had success. In the Render but not as I scrub or in the timeline playback. You think for what they charge for this software you could see what is going on without rendering. IMO. Thanks

Change the Display Quality in the Timeline to High and in the Details select Images.

Already set that way still no effect when scrubbing or Playing timeline. You are using Anime Studio Pro Ver.11.2.1 right?

Works perfectly here, using Anime Studio Pro 10.1.3 on El Capitan.

I wonder what is wrong on my side, If it wouldn't be too much to ask could you look at the file and see if it works for you and any ideas you have for fixing it. I would appreciate it. Thanks it is a 627 kb file. Zipped. You can get it here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/pw06tc ... ing_Folder
Thanks

As far as I know version 10 is not “forward compatible” to version 11.
Could not open the provided file. Changing the file-extension - no luck.

From the File Menu can you “Export As Version 10 File” ?

Well That was simple click GPU on that fixed it. There was a reason I turned that off but I can't remember why now. Anyway SOLVED! Thanks

Yeah, there's lots of reasons to disable it, but when you need it, it comes in handy.

Ah! That's good to know. I had a bunch of suggestions but I wouldn't have thought of that one. I normally have GPU Acceleration turned off because it causes masks to display incorrectly, but I had not known it affected Styles too.
UNKNOWN Okay, I can verify that that does seem to be a bug. Thanks for the steps to duplicate it. If you make a change to the style, and before you select the non-updated layer, you can uncheck GPU acceleration in the Display Quality dropdown to see it update. Reenabling GPU acceleration will again show the unselected layer not updated. It renders correct either way.
As I recall it was a style issue. Fix one thing then there's another. I suppose that is why there is a off/on switch but who knows when to use it? Glad there is this forum. Thanks again.

I imagine the behavior may vary with different graphics cards.

As mentioned earlier, I usually leave GPU Acceleration disabled but, yeah, this does disable some other features that may be useful. For me, I had to accept that something is always going to look different from the final render so I do a Ctrl-R often. (I deal with similar issues in many 3D programs I've used so by now, it's just a fact of life.) :)

Regarding animated opacity, even when it's visible, I don't think the workspace shows a frame accurate representation of the actual opacity levels, so I don't rely on what I see there anyway. If I think I need to fuss with the opacity animation interactively, I prefer to render that element in a pass using Layer Comps and keyframe the opacity in compositing. To me, this is faster and it leaves more options for other fx.

Hopefully, we'll see display improvements in the future, especially for how Moho renders masking in the workspace.

What compositing software do you use, I hope it is not too expensive. And could you direct me to an example of this technique. Thanks if I am too off topic here my apologies. You may always IM me.

You could also render the fading layer/s and just import it back into Moho.
