How would you make it rain spiders?

I would like to have it start raining spiders and then when they hit the ground have them crawl all over the place. My question is how do you animate that many different elements at the same time. Is there a fast cheat sort of way to do that with them in a group?

Ha ha! Interesting question... I've never done this, but I'd make a start with Particles. Hit New File, and go to the Scripts menu item on the top. Select Particle Effects, and then Rain. In the Layer palette you'll see six Vector Layers, p1 thru p6. These are raindrops, but you could change them to spiders (even wriggling spiders if you want to use animations instead of static images). That's the first half of your problem solved!

I'd next try to do something with Physics as the spiders hit the floor. You'll probably need to do about a dozen small animations of spiders running about in random directions and then fading out. You could switch to these animations as the spiders hit the floor. Hope this helps!
